The Album Remains The Same

Jimmy Page has once again retooled Led Zeppelin’s 1976 live album, The Song Remains the Same, which is out today (Friday) in numerous configurations, including a super deluxe box set with two CDs, four LPs and three DVDs. The DVDs include the original film, video extras, and an HD Stereo and a 5.1 surround-sound mix.

“The soundtrack album is really good because unlike the previous one, which has been sort of deleted, not only does this one sound better, it actually gives the full concert of what we were doing at Madison Square Garden. Some of it’s cut down a little bit, you know. Even in the film some of the numbers are edited, you know. But you can see how we actually approach – how we pace the set. That’s really quite important.”

The Blu-ray disc includes four songs not included in the final film — “Celebration Day,” “Over the Hills and Far Away,” “Misty Mountain Hop” and “The Ocean.”
