Top Story: Mutiny In Miami

After an abysmal loss of 59-10 in the season opener, there are rumors of mutiny in the Miami locker room.

According to NBC Sports, a league insider claims multiple players contacted their agents after the embarrassing loss looking to engineer trades to get themselves out of Miami. The players believe that the coaching staff are not serious about winning and are looking content to take their beatings this year in the chances of higher draft picks next season.

Dolphins head coach Brain Flores insists that he is not intentionally running the team into the ground, but that doesn’t prevent his players from believing it’s happening. And it would be hard to argue against anyone wanting to separate themselves from the situation. One would assume that being a professional athlete comes with the intention to win games, not throw the season today hopes of gaining a prosperous one tomorrow.

It should be noted that Flores and the rest of his staff are more than likely not trying to lose, but last Sunday’s display easily makes a case for players wanting off the team.

The Big Game: New Orleans Saints vs Los Angeles Rams

This week’s Big Game is a rematch of last year’s NFC Championship game between the Saints and the Rams. For those who missed it, or lived under a rock, that championship game saw a blown pass interference call that many have claimed aided the Rams and led to the Saints losing in overtime. Needless to say, the Saints are on the warpath this season and the Rams are out to prove last year wasn’t a fluke.

The Saints are playing on the heels of one of the best Monday Night Football games we have seen in some time. While much of the focus going into the game will be on veteran QB and future Hall Of Famer Drew Brees and his main receiver Michael Thomas, the Saints defense is also looking to challenge the Rams by slowing down the running game and forcing receivers to the outside to get open. In the season opener, the Saints held Houston to 6.5 yards per pass and look to keep that momentum going this weekend.

If the Saints are bitter about their Championship game loss, then the Rams are here to prove they deserved to win. During that game, the Rams held Michael Thomas to just 36 yards and you can bet they are hoping to repeat that defensive performance and keep the ball on the ground. Although the Rams offense looks great on paper, last week’s win over Carolina was less than stellar with Jared Goff passing for 186 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

The Saints are hungry and are out for blood this week, and they are the favorite to win on Sunday.

The Hail Mary Game: Baltimore Ravens vs Arizona Cardinals

It’s a clash of Heisman Trophy winners, as Arizona to play Kyler Murray and the Cardinals travel to Baltimore to play Lamar Jackson and the Ravens.

The Ravens are coming home after a dominating victory over Miami in Week 1. Lamar Jackson threw for 324 yards and tied franchise record of five touchdown passes (four of which were in the first half). Although much of the talk this week has been about Baltimore’s dynamic duo of Jackson and star receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, some have questioned how much of that win was due to them playing against Miami who were already being labeled the worst in the league prior to the start of the season.

While Jackson’s performance got heavy media attention, Kyler Murray had an excellent showing himself on Sunday. Murray threw for 238 yards in the fourth quarter alone, allowing for the Cardinals to fight back from a 15 point deficit in the final minutes of the game. Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsburg is looking to keep the rhythm they found in those final minutes noting that his play calls in the first half of last week’s game were “too cute”. It will be interesting to watch where the Cardinals mix of veterans and younger players carries the team this season.

Murray is going to be looking to bring that fourth quarter energy from last week into Baltimore on Sunday, but don’t count on another come from behind victory for Arizona.
