The Moody Blues’ To Our Children’s Children’s Children, the first release on the band’s own Threshold label, came out 50 years ago today (November 21st) It was a concept album about space travel, singer-guitarist Justin Haywardsays that when he wrote the song “Gypsy” he also had more down-to-earth journeys in mind.
“It represented a kind of freedom and like an escape. It also has a lot to do with touring and the almost gypsy life that a lot of musicians lead and that we lead in particular — never staying too long in one place — and a kind of search for some kind of enlightenment, something in the future.”
