He didn’t like it…at first

Just in time for Christmas, there’s a new Rod Stewart album.

Out today (Friday) is You’re in My Heart: Rod Stewart With the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, on which he sings his classic material to symphonic arrangements. Selections include “Maggie May,” “Reason to Believe,” “Handbags and Gladrags,” “The First Cut Is the Deepest,” “Forever Young” and “Have I Told You Lately.” “It Takes Two” features Robbie Williams, and there is one new song, “Stop Loving Her Today.”

“I was sort of dead against it. Can’t imagine ‘Stay With Me’ with strings, but it actually worked. It emphasizes the tender points of the ballads. I don’t know any other way to put it.”
