Huey Lewis has thanked Foo Fighters for the surprising shout-out during their Preparing Music for Concerts livestream on Sunday.

During the broadcast, the Foos broke into a jam and then guitarist Chris Shiflett started singing the chorus to Lewis and the News‘ hit “Workin’ for a Livin.'”

Foos frontman Dave Grohl then asked Shiflett who it was and the guitarist said it was Lewis. Grohl then asked, “Was that on Sports?” to which guitarist Pat Smear explained that it came on the album before, Picture This. Grohl continued, “I believe that hit was just as big as the other hits,” and Smear noted, “It was the build-up to Sports, you know what I’m saying? It was like, ‘Wait! We gotta pay attention to this band.'”

Lewis tweeted a clip of that exchange and wrote, “Thank you to the Foo Fighters for the flattering words about “Workin’ for a Livin’,” Sports, and our music in general. It was an honor to be talked about in your Preparing Music for Concerts video.”
