Roger Waters celebrates his 76th birthday today (September 6th). The Pink Floyd song “Mother” from The Wall is a concert favorite .Roger Waters believes audiences get that “mother” is the government.
“The line that audiences always respond to most is, ‘Mother, should I trust the government.’ And I think that audiences intuitively understand that the government is big mother. There’s a strange connection between the idea of a domineering parent and the government, and as teenagers if we’re healthy in any way, we rebel against our parents. We have to, it’s part of growing up.”
