Original KISS guitarist Paul “Ace” Frehley celebrates his 70th birthday today (April 27th) His producer Eddie Kramer pushed him into recording  “New York Groove”  Written by Russ Ballard of Argent, “New York Groove” was a Top 10 hit in Britain for a group called Hello, but not here. Ace Frehley recalls not being in love with the song when producer Kramer first played it for him during the sessions for his debut solo album. Here’s Ace Frehley on being reluctant to cover “New York Groove”

“He had the record. I still wasn’t convinced, but he kind of pushed me in. He says, ‘Let’s try it,’ and I’m glad he pushed me into doing it, you know. It was my biggest hit to date.”
