David Crosby was already on Neil Young‘s bad side for calling his then-girlfriend, now-wife Daryl Hannah a “predator.”

And though he did apologize and understands why Neil is mad at him, that hasn’t stopped him from expressing how he really feels about his former bandmate.

He says “I’m a very liberal guy and a modern thinker in terms of politics. Neil doesn’t really do politics. He does Neil… He’s probably the most self-centered, self-obsessed, selfish person I know. He only thinks about Neil, period. That’s the only person he’ll consider. Ever!”

Asked if Neil would agree with that assessment, he says, “Probably. He knows himself pretty well.”

As for his relationship with Graham Nash, Crosby says, “Graham just changed from the guy I thought was my best friend to being a guy that is definitely my enemy, so I don’t see any future there at all.”

When asked about Nash looking after Crosby all the years he was strung out on drugs and in trouble with the law, he says, “No! He gave the impression of looking after me, but apparently that was all just trying to keep the money coming. But there you go… We haven’t talked for a couple of years. And I’m not going to talk to him. I don’t want to talk to him. I’m not happy with him at all. To me, that’s all ancient history, man.”

Crosby is still on good terms with Stephen Stills, saying he’s the best songwriter, singer and guitarist in CSNY.”

And at 80, he says he’s been an A-hole most of his life, and while he doesn’t know if he’s found his way, he says he’s “happy. I love my family, and the music’s coming to me. So, despite the fact that the world is in a shaky spot, I feel pretty damned good.”
