Rod Stewart and his 40-year-old son Sean will officially avoid jail time after being charged with battery on New Year’s Day in 2020, after they got into it with a security guard at The Breakers resort in Palm Beach, Florida.
If you remember the story: Stewart and his family tried to access a private party, and when they were refused entry, Sean got in the face of the security guard. That’s when the pushing and shoving ensued. Rod then jumped in and punched the guard in the ribs.
Their lawyer, Guy Fronstin, says, “A resolution that’s acceptable to all parties has been reached. It will result in no jail time for both my clients.”
The case was scheduled to go to trial on Tuesday, but instead a deal was reached with prosecutors in which they are expected to plead no contest to the charge of simple battery. Judge August Bonavita is expected to sign off on the agreement on October 22nd and close the case. The Stewarts, who could have been locked up for a year, are not mandated to appear.
