Paul McCartney was knighted by Queen Elizabeth the Second 25 years ago today (March 11th). Paul know music and hits but he miscalculated on the song “Yesterday”.McCartney says The Beatles didn’t think “Yesterday” would be a hit when they recorded it. It may be the most covered pop song of all time. Here is Paul:
“The hits are always the ones you never thought would be hits – “Yesterday,” “Mull of Kintyre.” I mean, I didn’t want to put them out. We didn’t put ‘Yesterday’ out in England. It was only over here it was a single. We didn’t think it was a good idea in England. So it’s crazy how it goes.”
