A 1970 Gibson Les Paul Custom guitar that Eric Clapton had built is up for auction.

It was built between late 1969 and early 1970, and he gave it to Gregg Allman in December 1971, shortly after the October 29th motorcycle accident that took the life of his brother Duane.

Clapton and Duane were friends, with Duane playing on Derek and the Dominos‘ 1970 debut album, Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs.

Gregg used the guitar on stage until 1976, and it’s pictured inside the album jacket on 1974’s The Gregg Allman Tour.

He then gave it to Kendra Presswood, his neighbor on Florida’s Anna Marie Island, who held onto it for 40 years.

Heritage Auctions has it up for bids now online with a minimum bid of $20,000. The hammer comes down Monday at 8 p.m. ET.
