Earlier this month, Motley Crue‘s manager, Allen Kovac, said, “I’ve stopped the band from speaking about [their lawsuit with former guitarist Mick Mars], so they’re not gonna turn the fans against Mick.”
Well, apparently bassist Nikki Sixx didn’t get the memo, as he tells the U.K.’s Planet Rock, “[Mick’s] a little bit confused and being misled by representatives right now…But we still have to stay focused on why we’re here.”
Despite retiring from the road last fall, Mars says he’s still a member of the band, and of course they don’t agree, hence the lawsuits.
Meanwhile, the band has moved forward with Sixx’s longtime friend John 5.
“Me and that guy have been either hanging out at each other’s houses, writing songs… he plays (guitar) all day long. So, he comes over here and he grabs one of my guitars or brings his own and we just sit around and play and talk about the ’70s and how great Lynyrd Skynyrd and Scooby Doo was…
“It’s a nice time [for the band] and it’s kind of inspired us to write a little bit. We love our history, we’re very proud of everything we’ve done. We’ve always been really supportive of Mick no matter what Mick was going through. We’re just happy with where we’re at right now.”
The band was recently in the studio with producer Bob Rock, and this Friday they will perform at the NFL Draft in Kansas City, Missouri.
