Joe Perry questions whether he handled things correctly in 2010 when Steven Tyler became a judge on American Idol and was doing projects outside of Aerosmith — including writing his memoir, Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?, and releasing a single, “(It) Feels So Good.”
Speaking about their public feud and the band toying with getting another singer, he says, “I’m not sure how I feel about that. They say all press is good press, I’m not sure I agree with that. Maybe it felt like we had to do something for our fans…
“We were so spread apart… Maybe we were trying to set the record straight and be a little bit more honest and let people know what was going on. I don’t know.”
They all eventually put aside their differences to record their last studio album, 2012’s Music From Another Dimension.
Perry is on a European tour with The Hollywood Vampires, with shows Thursday in France and Saturday in The Netherlands.
Aerosmith start their Peace Out tour on September 2nd in Philadelphia.
