Lynyrd Skynyrd are celebrating their 50th anniversary with a new box set.
FYFTY, a four-CD/digital collection, contains 50 career-spanning tracks, as well as live cuts from the 1987 tribute show that led to their reunion.
It also includes a live performance of “Gimme Three Steps” from their final show with co-founding guitarist and last surviving original member Gary Rossington on November 13th, 2022 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.
Also included is a 40-page booklet featuring opening notes from rock journalist, screenwriter and director Cameron Crowe, and unreleased photos of the original band as well as the reformed band.
It will be out on October 13th, seven days before the 46th anniversary — October 20th, 1977 — of the plane crash that claimed the lives of three band members.
You can also celebrate the band’s 50th anniversary by raising a glass of their new line of whiskey, Hell House Whiskey, which is named after the Hell House Cabin, their rehearsal space in Jacksonville, Florida, where they crafted the songs for their first album, Pronounced ‘Lĕh-‘nérd ‘Skin-‘nérd, which celebrates its 50th anniversary on August 13th.
