Ringo Starr is keeping to his promise of just recording EPs and has announced the release of his fourth one in three years.

Rewind Forward, which contains four songs, will be available digitally, as well as on CD, 10-inch vinyl and cassette on October 13th. The title track will be available to stream or purchase this Friday.

The other three songs are “Shadows on the Wall,” “Feeling the Sunlight” and “Miss Jean.”

He says, “’Rewind Forward’ was something I said out of the blue — it’s just one of those lines like ‘A Hard Days Night.’ It just came to me. But it doesn’t really make sense. I was trying to explain it to myself and the best I can tell you about what it means is: Sometimes when you want to go forward you have to go back first.”

Like the previous three EPs — Zoom In, Change the World and EP3Rewind Forward features numerous special guests, including his brother-in-law Joe Walsh, plus longtime All Starr Band member Steve Lukather and his Toto bandmate Joe Williams who wrote the opening track “Shadows on the Wall”; Paul McCartney, who wrote “Feeling the Sunlight”; and former All Starr Band member Ian Hunter along with Heartbreakers Benmont Tench and Mike Campbell on “Miss You,” which Campbell wrote.

All songs were recorded at Ringo’s home studio in Los Angeles except McCartney’s “Feeling the Sunlight,” which was largely recorded in England.

Ringo and his All Starr Band start their fall tour on September 15th in Stateline, Nevada with 21 shows through October 13th in Thackerville, Oklahoma.
