While Roger Waters gets ready to release his version of Pink Floyd‘s The Dark Side of the Moon — The Dark Side of the Moon Redux — on October 6th, his former band will follow a week later, October 13th, with a newly remastered version of the iconic 1973 album on CD, vinyl and Blu-ray.
Released this past March as part of The Dark Side of the Moon 50th Anniversary box set, the new remaster will be available on its own for the first time.
The Blu-ray contains the Dolby Atmos and a 5.1 Surround mix as well as the remastered stereo version. The package contains commemorative postcards, stickers and a 24-page booklet.
On a related note, animators have until November 30th of this year to enter a competition to create animated music videos for any of the album’s 10 songs. A winner will be selected from a panel of experts that includes Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason and their creative consultant, Aubrey ‘Po’ Powell. To enter and for more information go to PinkFloyd.com/Competition/.
And Powell will be in conversation with animators who have already created some videos on September 6th at noon ET on YouTube.
