Chicken Soup Cures

You can’t blame Bruce Springsteen‘s peptic ulcers on his diet — at least when he’s on the road.

His tour rider has recently come to light, and before he takes the stage he likes to have a bowl of chicken soup with “lots of broth.” Chicken soup is good for those with ulcers.

As for after the show, he likes 16 cold, large fresh shrimp with “homemade seafood sauce,” again, not bad for ulcers, although the cocktail sauce is not good.

He also requires two 99-cent bags of Rold Gold pretzels, “no substitutions,” and they’re not going to mess with the ulcers.

Other items he requires are a blender, toaster oven and electric tea kettle; six hardboiled eggs, peeled with the yolks removed; one medium plastic container of peeled sliced apples; another medium plastic container of seedless watermelon cut into cubes; and 12 bottles of three kinds of Bai 5-brand beverages: Congo Pear, Costa Rica Clementine and Kula Watermelon.

Other requirements are a masseuse; and an “American-style SUV” — one with SiriusXM radio — or a Mercedes-Benz Viano van with tinted windows for transport to and from the airport.

According to the rider, “All vehicles must have English-speaking, nonsmoking, COVID-vaccinated drivers. Drivers shall remain masked with a mask covering their nose and mouth while Artist’s personnel are in their vehicle. Proof of recent negative COVID test may be required.”

But, for now, Springsteen only needs to concentrate on what he wants and needs at home as his tour for the rest of the year has been postponed due to the ulcers.
