Sammy Hagar says Eddie Van Halen wanted to experiment with different instruments had the two of them gotten together to record again.
He tells Fox News Digital, “He wanted to keep going… When we first connected, you know, again, after we went through all the fighting, and he was sick, and I reached out, and we got together and talked a lot. He was talking about playing cello and playing some wind instruments…
“He was saying, ‘I’m working on some [music].’ [And] I’d say, ‘I want to get in there and work with you.’ And he said, ‘Yeah, next year, you know, we’ll get together, make some noise and all that stuff’…
“He was so musical. And he had hands that would do what he thought. My hands won’t do it. I think that’s why I’m a singer. I think my voice will do it. I think my hands, you know, like they don’t want to cooperate.”
The last album Hagar recorded with Van Halen was 1995’s Balance — one of the four they did with Hagar included on The Collection 2, which came out on Friday.
