One of the two online groups of AC/DC fans that started campaigns to get the band a number-one song on the U.K. chart for Christmas in conjunction with its 50th anniversary have named the song they want to see achieve that goal.

Followers of the Facebook group AC/DC We Salute You have voted for “Thunderstruck.” Organizers of the group say, “We are all going to download/stream this 1990 classic to see if we can put AC/DC to the top of the U.K. Christmas Chart to celebrate 50 years of the band!

“The Christmas Official U.K. Charts opens at 00:01 on Friday [the] 15th December then closes seven days later at 23:59 on Thursday [the] 21st December.”

This is the same group that in 2013 launched a similar campaign for their 40th anniversary with the goal of getting “Highway to Hell” to the top of the U.K. chart. It came close, landing at number-four.

They were inspired to do this after a similar fan-driven campaign came together in 2009 to get Rage Against the Machine‘s “Killing In the Name” to the top spot.

Malcolm and Angus Young formed AC/DC in November 1973.
