Journey‘s Greatest Hits, first released in 1988, has been remastered under the supervision of their former singer Steve Perry, and is out now on 180-gram vinyl and digitally.
Commenting on this release, Perry says, “Because of the many different studios and many years between all these recordings, it took almost one year to complete. As it was nearing completion, I realized that–sonically and musically–this was not just another compilation, but was turning into a classic sounding new LP. This was my hope for these recordings made from a time when we were at our best. All original accompanying music videos, released in the same timeline, were visually upgraded to HD as well. Please enjoy these timeless performances.”
Greatest Hits is Journey’s best-selling album, having spent 786 weeks on the Billboard 200, and, as of December 2023, 1,422 weeks on Billboard‘s Catalog Albums chart.
And with this latest re-release comes another re-certification from the Recording Industry Association of America at 18x platinum, making it one of the Top 15 certified best-selling albums of all-time in the U.S.
And, the RIAA has also re-certified “Don’t Stop Believin'” at 18x platinum, placing it in a tie with “Sunflower (Spider-man: Into the Spiderverse)” by Post Malone and Swae Lee as the highest certified single ever in the US.
