Stone Gossard says that Pearl Jam is going to play a lot of their new album Dark Matter on their upcoming tour.
Gossard told Spin that he’s looking forward to playing their new songs. He says, “I’m excited. I think everybody is, and our goal is to play a lot of new stuff. So, listen to the record, everybody. Know the material! We’re gonna play it. We’ll have some new production too. We’re working on something right now, so it will be a little bit of a different show.”
Gossard added that the band has adjusted how long it plays because they’re all older. He says, “Well, everyone’s almost 60 years old. So if you want us to keep doing this, we can’t do it the same way we did over the last 10 years or so. The length is gonna be a little bit shorter in general, but there will still be a lot of variety and we’re still going to take chances…It’s not going to be a marathon every night, because we just can’t do that. Ed [Vedder] and Matt [Cameron] in particular are physically doing so much on stage.
Dark Matter is out April 19th, and the tour starts May 4th in Vancouver.
