Paul McCartney spent part of his annual August vacation at his home in the Hamptons section of Long Island, New York jamming with some friends.

It happened Tuesday night when he joined his producer Andrew Watt and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith during their show at Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett.

Like he does most times he joins someone on stage, he did The Beatles‘ “I Saw Her Standing There,” which was preceded by a duet with Watt’s girlfriend, Charlotte Lawrence, on his friend Neil Young‘s “Rockin’ in the Free World.” Also in the band was former Hall & Oates and Bob Dylan guitarist and Saturday Night Live bandleader G. E. Smith.

Watt has been working with McCartney on new music, and he produced the new Rolling Stones album, Hackney Diamonds, which features McCartney playing bass on “Bite My Head Off.” They also recorded a second unreleased song with McCartney, the name of which is not known. And Smith has been the studio drummer on albums Watt made with Eddie Vedder and Ozzy Osbourne.

Neil Young inducted McCartney into the Rock & Roll of Fame in 1999.

McCartney will hit the road for the next leg of his Got Back tour on October 1st in Montevideo, Uruguay.
