Josh Freese has opened up about being fired from Foo Fighters earlier this year.
In an interview with the New York Times the drummer said that “Looking back, it was probably more an issue with their management.”
And when he was asked about how he felt about the band, he said “It wasn’t music that I really resonated with.”
Freese added that his two years in the group was a very high pressure job. “I’m coming in as Dave Grohl’s drummer, and the guy that’s supposed to save the day after the beloved Taylor Hawkins died.” That left him feeling “like I had to be firing on all cylinders all the time.”
As for replacing Ilan Rubin in Nine Inch Nails after he left that band to join the Foos, Freese said “I couldn’t believe it,” adding, “But Ilan’s a phenomenal drummer, a phenomenal musician. He’ll be perfect for the gig.”
