David Gilmour says he’s got his eye on recording a new album soon.
Gilmour tells Rolling Stone, “I’m slowly building up towards a new album and I have quite a bit of material that is in some sort of formative stage. That’s what’s keeping me busy at the moment.”
He hopes not to repeat the nine-year gap he had in between 2015’s Rattle That Lock and last year’s Luck and Strange. “It’s always my intention to be a bit quicker, and I suspect this one will be a bit quicker. But you never can tell. Within the next year or two.”
And when the magazine asked if he’s likely to tour behind a new record, Gilmour said, “I guess I’ll probably do it. I probably wouldn’t mind doing something again on a similar level to this [last] one,” where he did multiple nights in Rome, London, New York City and Los Angeles. Gilmour adds that if approached, he would be interested in playing the Sphere in Las Vegas.
Gilmour’s new concert film, Live at the Circus Maximus, is in theaters September 17th. And his live album, The Luck and Strange Concerts, is due out October 17th.
