Pink Floyd‘s ninth album, 1975’s Wish You Were Here, was released 50 years ago this Friday, September 12th, 1975, and the band will be marking the anniversary, but exactly how remains to be seen.
When the album was released, it was wrapped in black plastic with a sticker saying what it was. So, as a tip of the hat to that packaging, they have posted a photo of the plastic wrap on their socials, and streaming sites such as Amazon, Apple and Spotify are displaying all their albums with that plastic motif and a label describing what they are.
This is no doubt Sony Music’s way of starting to recoup some of the $400-million they spent last year on the band’s catalog. Stay tuned for an official announcement this week.
