This week is National Farmers Market Week and we are celebrating the more than 200 farmers who grow their crops to feed their communities.
Connecticut is home to 110 Farmers Markets that operate all across the state, meaning there is certainly one near you. As a matter of fact, you can visit a Farmers Market every day this week and find fresh local produce to bring your cooking to life.
Monday Avon Farmers Market
Located in Avon at the Avon Library Parking Lot, 281 Country Club Road, this market is open from 3pm-6pm. This week, Barden Farms, Oliver’s Olive Oils, and Rose’s Berry Farms as well as many other vendors will be on site. Avon Farmers Market will also be celebrating Farmers Market Week themselves with giveaways. FMNP and SNAP accepted.
Tuesday Hartford West End Farmers Market
Located in Hartford at Clemens Place Green, 385 Farmington Avenue, this market is open from 4pm-7pm. This week, the market will feature Clatter Ridge Farms, Riverview Farm, and many more vendors. The UCONN Master Gardener Program will also be on site for educational demonstrations. FMNP accepted.
Wednesday Glastonbury Farmers Market
Located in Glastonbury at Riverfront Park, 300 Welles Street, this market is open from 5pm-8pm. This week, East Willow Farm, Wholly Goat Farm, and Sweet Seidner’s Bake Shop will all being opening up shop along with the many other regular vendors who appear weekly. The market will also feature Live Music from Brian May and The Town Band. FMNP accepted.
Thursday First Town Downtown Farmers Market
Located in Windsor, at 240 Broad Street, this market is open from 3:30pm-6:30pm. This week, the market will feature local eggs, produce, herbs, and many other locally grown and sourced products from a variety of vendors. This week the market will also be hosting a Make A Kite event.
Friday The Southington Farmers Market
Located on The Town Green in the Center of Southington, 75 South Main Street, this market is open from 3pm-6pm. This week, Gresczyk Farms, Twin Pines Farm, and Wave Hill Bread will be bringing their locally grown and made products to the market. They will be joined by a variety of other vendors who regularly open up shop at The Southington Farmers Market. The market will be partnering with The Southington Library for story time starting at 3:30pm. FMNP accepted.
