AC/DC singer Ronald Belford “Bon” Scott would have turned 75 today July 9th. To mark the occasion, his family has launched an official website — BonScottOfficial.com.
His estate — his two brothers and a nephew — released a statement saying they did this to elevate his “legend,” and that they’re “tending to his legacy. Bon was a unique singer, songwriter and character that the world should never forget…
“This is an invitation for Bon’s fans and friends to gather and share their memories and observations of him and his music. His legacy lives in the hearts and minds of those who love him.”
Testimonials on the site come from the likes of Angus Young, Rob Halford and Steve Perry.
He was the chauffeur for the band until one day singer Dave Evans refused to go on stage so Bon did…the rest is history. Here is Bon Scott:
“Back in about 1957 or eight I think it was, you know, I used to sing in the shower and my mom would say, ‘Ron, if you can’t sing proper songs shut up. Don’t sing this rock and roll garbage.’ And now of course she loves it very much, you know.”
