Although there’s a big offer on the table for a Heart tour, which would be their first since 2019, Ann and Nancy Wilson are still not on the same page — so we’ll see both Wilson sisters on the road fronting their own bands.
Nancy is taking it a step further by billing her band as Nancy Wilson’s Heart, which includes members from the 2019 Heart band. Here is Nancy Wilson on why she and sister Ann are not touring this year as Heart.
“Ann wasn’t interested in going out with my lineup of guys that we were out with before. She has a new lineup of guys that she wanted me to join up with. So I sort of [thought] I don’t really know them and don’t have loyalty yet for anybody like that. So I just decided when I do go out with my new singer Kimberly, I can telegraph to the people coming to the show that they’re gonna hear Heart songs in a whole different way than ever expected.”
Nancy adds that though she’s using the Heart name, you can’t compare the two bands or her singer Kimberly Nichole to her sister Ann. Here is Nancy Wilson on why she is billing her tour as Nancy Wilson’s Heart.
“I figure that’s a way to let them know that it’s not just Nancy Wilson of Heart doing whatever, but it’s Nancy Wilson’s Heart where you’re gonna hear more Heart stuff.”
Though Nancy has yet to announce any dates, she just did a Las Vegas residency where she was backed by Styx during their show.
Ann will release her new album, Fierce Bliss, on April 29th, and she’ll be on tour in the spring and summer with her band, The Amazing Dawgs.
The riff between Nancy and Ann started in 2016 when Ann’s husband, Dean Welter, was arrested for assaulting Nancy’s then-16-year-old twin sons backstage during a show in Seattle. He pleaded guilty to two lesser assault charges to avoid jail time.
