Neil Young has gone back on his word and wrote about it on his website.

“A few years ago, I vowed to never use a fossil fuel car again. But I wanted to take my lovely wife [actress Daryl Hannah] out to dinner with family in my old ’50 Plymouth Special Deluxe. We fired it up, polluting the planet with its fumes while supporting the system that has almost ruined Earth.

“Life is short. I did it because it felt so good. It’s been my life and I wanted to do it again. Tomorrow (Thursday) I will probably take my F-150 Ford Lightning [electric pick-up truck] to the new surf shack where I am working with Niko, my ‘Volume Dealers,’ partner, on making all my old albums in Dolby Atmos / Apple Spatial so the next generation can hear them, but tonight Daryl and I are happy to be in the old Plymouth.

“It’s a rare thing. Electric and Bio is the future.”
