It’s a “throat infection” that forced Sting to cancel and postpone shows this week and next.

He writes, “Thanks so much for all of the well wishes. I am steadily improving… I’m looking forward to resuming my performances and rescheduled shows soon.”

The affected appearances and shows were the Bass Magazine Awards tonight (Thursday) in Santa Ana, California, where he’s being honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award; this Friday in Phoenix, which has been moved to June 1st; his appearance at the Cherrytree Music Company’s 20th anniversary Saturday will now take place on May 29th; and his show Sunday in Wheatland, California will now be held on May 28th.

He’s still scheduled to perform at FireAid at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California on January 30th, and with Billy Joel in Indianapolis on February 8th.

He also added another show with Joel, September 5th at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.
