The three principal members of Journey — guitarist Neal Schon, keyboardist Jonathan Cain and singer Arnel Pineda — just can’t seem to stop airing their dirty laundry in public or saying something that makes their fans question what they’re even talking about. The latest example is a rambling message on Facebook from Pineda in which he apologizes, seemingly to music journalists, for not doing many interviews, perhaps after saying too much in a recent one with Rolling Stone.

He writes, “I just wanna take the time to apologize to everyone who’s attempted to reach out and secure an interview with me over the years…me being aloof wasn’t intentional nor a disrespect, it’s just that there’s nothing much to tell much.

“ONE OF THE GREATEST OPPORTUNITIES in my life occurred when Neal Schon asked me to be part of a LEGACY that’s touched millions of lives all over America and around the world. And as scared as I was from the start ’til now (believe it or not) I did what’s been asked of me on behalf of the band’s LEGACY [through] lots of mishaps, stumblings, shameful moments, gigantic self-doubt, imperfections and before we all knew it, 18 and a half years has passed. So that’s all there is.

“Other details or behind-the-scenes incidents and moments are all but a blur while chasing the shadows of greatness I’ll never be able to catch nor achieve (at least to my belief).

“And yet, to the believers, thank you.

“To the non-believers, thank you still.

“To the purist who’s consistently dismissed me, I understand and thank you too…

“To the people I have made an honest and sincere connection with (some of them eventually led to a lasting friendship), thank you…

“For now, the story will go on, and who knows when it’ll stop.

“THY WILL BE DONE (I whisper those words all the time to myself).

“Again, THANK YOU and I just wanna urge your respect to my privacy as I navigate a new chapter in my life that’s still kind of scary because for me it’s unknown and I won’t reveal much of what I’m expecting it to be…the mystery of living a life in this world we are all in.

“Well, I’ll keep chasing.”

So, Pineda is either talking about currently dealing with a nasty divorce or his life after the band reportedly hangs it up next year — or he’s reaching out for help.

In other Journey news, Neal Schon, on behalf of the band, has apologized for their having to cancel their show Sunday at the Stagecoach festival in Indio, California.

He says, “We were truly looking forward to performing for you. The decision to evacuate and cancel the show was not made by us. It was issued and communicated to our team during the emergency situation,” which were high winds.

He goes onto say that “the safety of our fans, crew, and everyone on site had to come first.

“We’re deeply sorry we couldn’t take the stage and share that moment with you. We appreciate your support, patience, and the incredible energy you bring every night.”

Journey’s Final Frontier tour now moves to Las Vegas on Wednesday.
